On the first day of the ISS symposium 2012 in Berlin top representatives from the main space agencies discussed the future path and priorities for research on the Space Station. The three-day Symposium is covering case-studies in fundamental and applied research and the actual or potential spin-offs for the benefit of humankind.
The roundtable discussion featured: Kiyoshi Higuchi, Vice President of JAXA, Takaaki Iwasa, Office for Space Utilisation Promotion Director (MEXT), Mark Uhran, NASA ISS Director, Alexey Krasnov, Director of Human Spaceflight Programme Department at Roscosmos, Gilles Leclerc, Director General for Space Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency and Jean-Jacques Dordain, ESA Director General.
