From about 600 km high, the ESA’s Proba-1 satellite captured this image of a heart-shaped island in the Pacific Ocean on 18 June 2008. Located about 20 km north of Bora Bora, Tupai is a coral island in French Polynesia. With white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, this tropical paradise has become a romantic daytrip destination for couples. The island has no permanent residents apart from the coconut plantation workers. In this false-colour image, the land appears red and encircles a shallow lagoon. The line cutting through the land at the upper right is an airfield.
