The image of ring shadows cast by the Sun on Saturn's surface was taken with the NASA/ESA/ASI Cassini narrow-angle camera on 18 January 2005, at a distance of 1.4 million kilometres from Saturn using a filter sensitive to wavelengths of infrared light centred at 752 nanometres. The image scale is 9 kilometres per pixel.
Saturn's moon Mimas (398 kilometres across) is seen near the bottom of the frame.
