Thermal ageing of BepiColombo test samples in ESTEC's Extreme Temperature Exposure System, which incorporates a high temperature/high vacuum furnace with temperatures up to 1100 C and 10-6 millibar vacuum. Thermal ageing is a way of accelerating a material's ageing process to identify potential mass loss and changes in thermo-optical and thermo-mechanical properties. The samples seen here include adhesives, polymer films and foams.
