Galileo Launch Live - attempt#2 - 22 August

Due to adverse meteo conditions, Galileo Sat 5-6 launch attempt#1 was abandoned on the morning of 21 August.

The next attempt is planned for 22 August with lift-off scheduled at 12h27 GMT.

Follow the launch of the 5th and 6th Galileo satellites aboard Soyuz from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.

After the definition, development and in-orbit validation phases of the Galileo programme, carried out by ESA and co-funded by ESA and the EU this is now time for the deployment of the Galileo system.

This so called Full Operational Capability phase is managed and fully funded by the European Commission. The Commission and ESA have signed a delegation agreement by which ESA acts as design and procurement agent on behalf of the Commission.

Video transmission will be in two parts :

Soyuz on its pad/ Lift Off (12h27 GMT on 22/08) and ascent

Fregat Burns / Satellites separation / Declarations

Launch highlights will be posted on ESA TV FTP server within one hour after end of video transmission.
