N° 34–2023: Media accreditation for Crew-7 launch with Andreas Mogensen

The launch of the Crew Dragon capsule, on a Falcon 9 rocket, is targeted for no earlier than Tuesday, 15 August. It is the seventh crew rotation flight for Crew Dragon and will see ESA’s Andreas Mogensen travel into space for the second time, beginning his mission Huginn.

ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen will be the pilot of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon. He will be accompanied by NASA astronaut and Mission Commander Jasmin Moghbeli, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and Roscosmos cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov as mission specialists.

Huginn will be Andreas’s first long-duration mission to the International Space Station, where he will work and live for six months as part of Expeditions 69 and 70. During Expedition 70, Andreas Mogensen will also be commander of the Space Station, becoming the sixth European astronaut to fulfil this role.

He will conduct over 30 European experiments during the Huginn mission. The experiments are divided into three pillars: climate, healthand space for Earth.

ESA will not be organising a media trip on this occasion. However, a limited number of international media are welcome to attend the launch in Florida. Media accreditation and any questions should be directed to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Media accreditation deadlines for Crew-7 are as follows (all times CEST)

• International media without US citizenship must apply by 05:59 Thursday, 13 July.
• US media must apply by 05:59 Sunday, 1 August.
