N° 2–2024: Media invitation: last chance to see Ariane 6 stages in Europe before inaugural flight

17 January 2024

Journalists are invited to see Ariane 6 stages in the European facilities where they were integrated, before their shipment to French Guiana for the inaugural flight of Europe’s new heavy launcher.

Members of the media are invited to participate in the following:
- Visit of the Ariane 6 upper stage integration building facility at ArianeGroup premises in Bremen, Germany, on 26 January (morning);
- Visit of the Ariane 6 main stage integration building at ArianeGroup premises in Les Mureaux, France, on 30 January (morning).

ArianeGroup and ESA experts will be available on-site for interviews and imagery will be provided to journalists as photography and videography will not be possible during the visit.
This will be the last chance of seeing this first flight model of Ariane 6 in Europe before the stages embark on their journey to Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana aboard the Canopée ship.

Ariane 6 is an all-new design, created to succeed Ariane 5 as Europe's heavy-lift launch system. It will be capable of a wide range of missions, supporting Europe’s autonomous access to space and serving its institutional and commercial needs.
Ongoing development of Europe's space transportation capabilities is made possible by the sustained dedication of thousands of talented people working in ESA's 22 Member States.

Media registration

Media are invited to express their interest in attending the visits by writing to ArianeGroup’s media team (Camille Sohier: camille.sohier@ariane.group) with a copy of your ID in attachment, by 19 January 2024.
Accreditation time and security measures are limiting constraints. For this reason, Ariane 6 partners cannot guarantee all interested media will be able to join these visits.

About the European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) provides Europe’s gateway to space.
ESA is an intergovernmental organisation, created in 1975, with the mission to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space delivers benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world
ESA has 22 Member States: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia are Associate Members.
ESA has established formal cooperation with four Member States of the EU. Canada takes part in some ESA programmes under a Cooperation Agreement.
By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, ESA can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country. It is working in particular with the EU on implementing the Galileo and Copernicus programmes as well as with Eumetsat for the development of meteorological missions.
