“The first in situ observation of Kelvin-Helmholtz waves at high-latitude magnetopause during strongly dawnward interplanetary magnetic field conditions” by K.-J Hwang et al., is published in the Journal of Geophysical Research 117, A08233, doi:10.1029/2011JA017256.

The four satellites of the Cluster constellation have been flying in formation around Earth since 2000, passing in and out of our planet’s magnetic field to survey the Sun–Earth connection in three dimensions.

After working for several years in tandem with the first Sino–European space mission, Double Star, Cluster will soon be operating alongside ESA’s Swarm mission, dedicated to accurate measurement of Earth’s internal magnetic field.
